There's an example (I didn't say a good one;) of making do with what you have...cause I don't have a lot of 'whimsy' in my stash;) Always fun to get creative and have to think outside my little box!
The next one was more my style to create...
The current challenge at Festive Friday is to include a wreath element in your design. I pulled out that new Fresh Cut Florals set (WPlus9) again. (I think you can count on seeing this one lots from me!!!) I used a little trio of leaves from that set to create my wreath, and used the bird and nest from Birds and Blooms (PTI) to embellish it. The berries are the flower center from Fresh Cut Florals, and the string holding the star is from PTI's Merry Little Christmas...
He heads off to semi-state in that marching band uniform tomorrow, hoping to advance to the final state competition the following weekend. Like it or not, you can bet I'll be keeping you posted!
Hope you all enjoy your weekend! And I hope to have a little more crafting/blogging time when band season is over...before the holidays hit! In the mean time, I guess I'll just ask that you forgive me for my absence here and at your blogs.
Thanks so much for stopping in!

Gorgeous cards! I'm especially loving the second one with the sparkly star and little bow, and what a handsome guy you've got there. You must be so proud!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I loved this card so much that I immediately pinned it, then ran off to make my own for next weeks Craft Dash. You're so brilliant! I think I already told you how much I loved the first... I struggled with that challenge. You did great! Thanks for some god inspiration, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYou know Geri, when I come to your blog, I sigh.... Everything you do is just lovely! I love the colors you used with the PTI snowflakes. That's one of my favorite sets. Love what you've done with it. And the wreath card is just beautiful! Love the little bird in the nest! And what a handsome young man you have there!! I know you're proud of him. Have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and of course.... Good luck to your boy this weekend! You must be so proud,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you embellishes ur wreath with the bird, nest ribbon n that tiny star. Love it and ur whimsical card is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are gorgeous Geri. The wreath you have created is so beautiful. The wee bird is a wonderful addition.
ReplyDeleteYour wonderful creations so obviously doesn't stop at cards...what a handsome and talented son!
Such pretty cards Geri! I like the colors of your snowflakes and your wreath is simply divine! The little gold star is a great touch! Your son is as cute as can be, wish him luck from me!
ReplyDeleteLovely, the wreath card just is the most lovely thing I have seen in a LONG time. Good luck on Semi State!!!
ReplyDeleteGeri: Loved both of your cards but the wreath on the second card was sooo pretty and the little bird peeking out from her nest!!! Good luck to Caleb today and to the NMK!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour first card is beautiful, Geri...but your second card...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!! It is better than FABULOUS!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of your handsome young man! :o)
These cards are SO you. The snowflake card is wonderful (love that Papertrey set) and the reuse of the snowflake colors in the horizontal trim, is fantastic. Sequins have never had a better life than your hands, either. (If you wrote a book with all the ways you finish cards with embellishments, it would be a best seller.)
ReplyDeleteYou have also shown off Wplus9's 'Fresh Florals' set to its fullest. That soft wreath is a knock out, and the addition of the bird and bow, the perfect accompaniments. Lucky for Wplus9 that you use that set.
Your poor children clearly did not get any of their mother's artistic genius. ;) What a honor that his band has gotten so far in their competition. Bands are very important in Indiana, unlike in Massachusetts where I live, so this is truly a major thrill. Congratulations to you both!
What a handsome lad, Geri! I wish him all the best in the competitions!! Enjoy this family time!
ReplyDeleteYour wreath card is breathtaking! You have showcased it so perfectly!! Darnell
No need to apologize Geri...family always comes first! What an exciting time for your family! The life experiences that are learned from activities like this can never be duplicated in a classroom...win or lose...it is all about building good character and HAVING FUN!!! Best of luck for the next round!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I'm thinking that you nailed 'whimsy' with the first card - fabulous whimsical finds! LOVE the white/silver embossed sentiment!
The wreath....BREATH TAKING! Beautifully clean, simple & elegant. Awesome job utilizing stamps from several sets! Isn't it rewarding being so resourceful?
Awww Geri, what a handsome son you have! :-) And your cards are gorgeous as always!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Geri! And your son is so handsome!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I love everything about your wreath card and I agree your son is very handsome!
ReplyDeleteOh such a pretty wreath and the birdie is the cutest addition. I also am in love with that sentiment. Of course I have the song in my head now.
ReplyDeleteOh, so beautiful! I love your cards, Geri! I think the first one is elegant and beautiful, and captures a sense of whimsy perfectly! And love the wreath to pieces!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your boy with his band competitions!
You are truly a genius at making the most out of simple things and few of them. The pastels and embossing on the first and the exquisite streaming on the second. I wish I had your vision to "see" the potential in my stamps and dies. Beautiful beyond measure. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh how handsome...and your cards are nice too!!! My guys are actually surviving the end of marching band season. I hope the season is ending well for your son! The cards really are gorgeous. I love the sweet colors and fun snowflakes. And that wreath is stunning with the leaves. I may be the only stamper without that set - but I see so many beautiful things done with it, I'm a little intimidated!!
ReplyDeleteIt has been a bit since I've been bopping around checking out cards and I do not have the excuse of three school-aged children. Hope the band competition went well today.
ReplyDeleteWhile each card has its own distinct personality, they are both wonderful. The first card is delightful. I love your attention to detail, this time repeating the snowflake colors in the horizontal trim. Brilliant design. The second card is just lovely. You are getting the most out of that Fresh Cut Florals set.
Both your cards are absolutely lovely, Geri! Love your wreath one especially. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, your wreath is unbelieveably pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful!!! I love your snowflake card! It's gorgeous! Love the embossing layer and the pearls!! What a great addition! Your wreath is beautiful!! Love that star!! Looks fantastic!! And your son is handsome! :) A band parent huh? My youngest wanted to play the flute, but ended up opting for the viola instead! I am so happy LOL!!! They keep you hopping in the band!! Crazy! I don't know how you have time for anything!!!
