Back from vacation with LOTS to share...

Friday, June 7, 2013

Hey, Everyone!!!  Happy Friday to you all!  It's so good to be back here on the ole blog!  Seems like it's been an awful long time...so that means I have lots to share!  I'll start with this little guy...

He's from my latest card for Precious Remembrance with the Little One set.  Head on over to the blog if you'd like to check him out!
And next...some warm wishes for you...

Yes, it's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday!...

Aren't those colors gorgeous?!?  Although, they're not necessarily part of the challenge...it's the 'vintage theme' we're going for this time.  I used more traditional colors found in papers from a clearanced Anna Griffin card kit last Christmas...and a sweet digital image from Bety, HERE...

Details and additional inspiration can be found at the blog, if you're interested in joining in the fun of getting those holiday cards done at a more relaxed pace.  We've got a sweet group of ladies doing just that, and would love it if you would join us!
Next for today is a belated birthday card to honor my talented friend, Ardyth!  I had never met Ardyth until she started entering the Festive Friday challenges...I knew right away she was one talented lady!  She's now on the design team and recently had a birthday.  A couple VERY sweet friends of hers organized a little birthday surprise for her.  I guess you could say I'm arriving 'fashionably late' with my card, but I think the Linky list is still open...

Ardyth is the queen of 'clean and simple', and what strikes me about her cards is her use of white space, and the way she displays bold/striking colors and patterns on it.  The goal of the party was to CASE a card of hers and link it up for her to view.  I had a hard time choosing just one to CASE, so instead, I just tried to stay true to her clean and simple style and incorporated some strong/striking graphics I thought she might like.  Hope you enjoy this, Ardyth,...and I hope you're enjoying this little ongoing party of yours!  You and your designs ARE fabulous, and I hope your birthday was too!  I'm so glad Festive Friday brought you my way, and I look forward to getting to know you better in the future!!!

And last, but certainly not least...a card in honor of another new friend of mine.  'Marcie' left me THE sweetest comment a little while back.  You know how...every once in awhile you get a comment that makes you think...'Oh, YEAH!!!...THIS is why I do this!...I DO inspire people!...this DOES make a difference!!!  Yep,... it was that kind...made. my. DAY!  So we've commented back and forth since then, and when I got home from vacation, I had the sweetest and most generous gift packaged up and waiting for me in our pile of mail...I got teary when I opened it at the thought of her generosity.  So, this one's for you, Marcie...You're a sweetheart, and I'm so grateful we met...

Isn't it wonderful how small 'blogging' makes this world of ours?!?!  I love having wonderful friends in places I've never even been!!!  So thankful to be home, creating again, and so thankful for each one of you!!!
Have a great weekend!

  1. Beautiful cards, Geri! I love the vintage feel of the first one (& that gorgeous bow!)
Your second card is so striking and I love how you split up the "are so fabulous" sentiment like that. And that focal stamp is gorgeous! Which stamp is that?
And your last card is lovely, too! I never got the anniversary set, but your card has me second guessing that choice!
I'm glad you're back from vacation.... I've been visiting your blog often. :)

  7. Where to start?! First of all, it's good to have you home safe and sound and back to inspiring everyone with your blog and cards!!

Since I'm happily hosting Ardyth's surprise party, I'm thrilled to see the brilliant "Ardycard" you made for her! Thank you so much for linking your card and joining the ongoing party at the Playhouse. For someone with talent as big as Ardyth's, I had to keep the festivities going for more than a couple of weeks! I know she will love your CASE of her CAS-perfect and bold style!!

Finally, that sweetest bear, astonishingly elegant Santa, and the plaid, adorable nest, border, and bird on your gratitude card all bowled me over!!

I agree with your well-said comments about blogging make the stamping world smaller. I'm so grateful to have found your blog and now I'm heading over to check out Marcie! Thank you, Geri!

  12. Oh, what a great post!! So many beautiful projects to feast on...

I am really excited for you that you made a new friend, too! I LOVE that about this whole blogging world. Did I tell you that I use your notebook for all my sketches and notes? So it follows me wherever I go, and I think of you always, because you're always kind of by my side! ;)

Feeling very grateful for you today, friend! :D

  13. Hi Geri. There is a bit of computer voodoo going on in my commenting, so this is my third attempt to leave one. Your bear card is too cute (and snugly). Did you use Stazon ink, or another pad, to do your stamping on the felt? And you are as gifted with your sewing know-how as with your paper crafting.

Your vintage Santa card is wonderful. I especially love the embellishment at the top. The semicircle lace behind the button with the unturned ribbon is perfectly Victorian while still going splendidly with your clean style.

The birthday card is inspired. You positively nailed clean and simple PLUS elegant! I don't know if that was one stamp (it looks a bit familiar, like PTI?), but I need to try that look with some of my smaller motif stamps.

And lastly, you're a dear. I just knew you would make an incredibly great card with that set. Yours is different than all the others I've seen, and I just love it!!!!

I've been trying to send you an email ever since hearing from you, but my electrons are misbehaving on all fronts these days. I will take the delivery failure notice I got, remove all the HTML, and try sending it again.

So happy you are back making your cards again. The world slows down, just a little bit, when you are on vacation. Hope your battery is recharged. Mine certainly is after seeing your delightful cards.

  14. Welcome home, Geri! Hope you had a fantastic vacation! And I'm so glad to have you back!! These cards are incredible - jaw droppers for sure!!! Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring! And blog friends - they are the best!! Before I started blogging, I could not wrap my head around the fact that people could become such good friends when they'd never even met! And now...I GET IT! It is such a joy and privilege to meet and know such amazing people who share the same passion. SO glad I jumped into this little blog journey!

  17. Welcome home Geri! These cards are all so beautiful! I just love how you add sweet little touches to each of your cards - the polka dot star tag in red on the Christmas card, the bright purple glitter flower center to match the "you" on Ardyth's birthday card and the little melon colored flower on the grateful card! Sweet little touches that make your cards extra special! You have such a wonderful design style! I always enjoy my visits! I am off to go see the bear on the PR blog!
