Hey, everyone! I have a couple cards for a couple challenges to quickly share today! I've used the same design for both. The first inspiration piece is this Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab World (can you believe I've NEVER participated in one of these ever-so inspiring challenges?!?! I know...no excuse will do for that!)...
The next inspiration piece is really a person, Maile Belles, and her stunningly simple designs over at Case Study (and I hate to say...I've never participated here either...YIKES!!!)...
So I really couldn't help but to meld all the inspiration together, creating two cards by experimenting just slightly with color variations. I really loved the large bloom on Maile's card, and how the blossom extended over the panel. But I don't own any large images like that, so I thought I would try my Spellbinders dies to see if they would give me the look I wanted. The Moxie trigger had all those pretty soft irregular blossoms, too, in soft watery pinks, and that was actually the first one I tried...keeping it simple with Maile's style in mind...
The petals are very softly inked with pink, and I've raised the woodgrain panel with foam tape, although it doesn't show much. On the next one for Case Study, I went with even less color, edging the petals just slightly with Smokey Shadow ink. Somehow, that seemed more 'Maile' style to me...
...It's not that she doesn't use color, but it is amazing to me how she can use so little color and still create a such a lovely look. Her use of white space, simple embellishments, and small pops of color always amazes me! What a pleasure to attempt to CASE one of her lovely creations!
Gotta git!!!
But thanks for comin'! I loved creating for these two challenges!

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely delicate cards Geri! I just adore the first one with the soft pink edges on your pretty bloom. It reminds me of the dogwood trees that are now in bloom!
